You don’t need to have it worked out before you come. I specialise in states of being — the inner conditions that make the change you’re seeking possible.
Most people know what they’d like to be different. Calmer. Lighter. Sleeping through the night. Free of a habit, or of something from the past that still has a grip. What’s usually missing is the way there.
Change rarely comes from knowing more. It comes from the state you’re in when you meet the problem. From one state, the same old response fires every time; from another, new options are simply there. My work is helping you reach that state — and helping your system learn to find it again on its own.
Hypnotherapy gives us access to the level where patterns are actually held. In trance you remain aware and in control — it is closer to the absorbed state of being lost in a book than to anything you have seen on television.
I use Function-Focused Hypno-Psychotherapy, which integrates hypnosis with cognitive, psychodynamic and solution-focused approaches. We look at what a pattern is doing for you — what it’s protecting, what it’s trying to achieve — and give that part of you a better way to do its job. Structure where structure helps, depth where it is needed.
Underneath it all is self-regulation: your nervous system’s ability to settle and choose its response. Practised in a focused state, new responses become new pathways in the brain. That is neuroplasticity, and it is why change made in session carries into everyday life.
You don’t need to have tried counselling, medication or anything else first. We start by talking through what’s brought you here and what you’d like instead, there is time for your questions, and you’ll experience what trance actually feels like. Most people are surprised how ordinary and relaxing it is.
The first session runs 90 minutes to two hours; sessions after that run 60 to 90 minutes. The first session is $220 and follow-ups are $180, held in person in Hamilton, Victoria, or online via Zoom. Under 18? Please call before booking so we can talk with you and a parent or guardian.
I am a clinical member of the Australian Hypnotherapists’ Association. Hypnotherapy sits alongside medical and psychological care rather than replacing it, and I am glad to work in step with your GP, psychologist or psychiatrist.
If things feel acute right now, please contact your GP, or call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
Sessions are held in person in Hamilton, Victoria, or online.
